MOUNTAINSIDE

Mountainside is a borough in Union County, NJ. It was incorporated as a borough in 1895 from portions of Westfield Township. Nestled in the Watchung Mountains, Mountainside offers marked hiking trails, several nature trails, and nearly 30 miles of bridle trails.

New Jersey Monthly ranked Mountainside as its 16th best place to live in its 2008 rankings of the "Best Places To Live" in New Jersey and 8th in the 2010 list. Students in the public school system attend the Beechwood School from pre-K to grade 2, and Deerfield School from grades 3-8. High school students, grades 9- 12, attend Governor Livingston High School in nearby Berkeley Heights.
